Content of the testing

What is content of the testing?

We test the dimethylformamide content in your products by solvent extraction. It is quantified via GC-MS. The detection of dimethylformamide is carried out according to DIN CEN ISO/TS 16189.

This ensures that your products do not pose any health risks to your customers due to Dimethylformamide.

Testing based on composite samples

Testing for dimethylformamide may be performed via composite samples.

As a general rule, composite samples are prepared to shorten the processing times or to reduce costs for testing. A composite sample usually consists of up to three compatible individual materials in one sample, which are combined in equal parts and are together subjected to a specific chemical test. The number of materials mixed depends on the methodological requirements. Preparing composite samples generally bears the risk that the result of the composite sample shows deviations, suggesting that at least one of the individual materials does not comply with the legal or standard market limits. Which material within a composite sample caused the deviation is confirmed by retesting all individual materials of the composite sample. This leads to additional costs which are the responsibility of the client. This way you ensure that your products do not pose any health risks to your customers. Test process

  1. Order at the online shop

    Configure your desired individual chemical test in the TÜV Rheinland business client online shop and send us your purchase order.

      

  2. Delivery of material sample

    Please note that you must send the number of test samples/material samples required for testing to TÜV Rheinland at your own cost. For the exact location, please refer to the accompanying note for the test sample.

    Please enclose the accompanying note for the test sample (attachment of your order confirmation) with your test sample shipment or, for large shipments, attach it on the outside of the outer packaging.  This allows us to quickly and easily match your sample with your order. Receipt and registration of the test sample happens at the respective laboratory site. The same applies for the weighing of the materials to be tested, which is based on the amount of the sample required for the test (material sample collection).

      

  3. Testing

    The chemical testing of the material samples is performed in our DIN EN ISO 17025 accredited laboratories according to legal and standard market requirements. The chemical testing inevitably destroys the samples, and they cannot be reused.

      

  4. Sending of test results

    Analysis of the measurement results and documentation of the results in a test report.

  • Retests
    Preparing composite samples generally bears the risk that the result of the composite sample may show deviations, suggesting that at least one of the individual materials does not comply with the legal or standard market limits. To determine which of the materials within a composite sample had caused the deviation, all materials of the composite sample must be individually retested. This leads to additional costs which are the responsibility of the client.
